A language experiment

For people who like dabbling in foreign languages, and playing with the "google language tools", here is something to try out :
Set your language tools to translate from German to English, and try out the following sentence :
"Mutter ist noch krank".
It is very readily translated to
"Mother is still sick".
Now try the same sentence with the "noch" in parentheses : ""Mutter ist (noch) krank".
This time the output is "Mother is not (yet) ill"! I do not know whether this is a usual convention in written German or some google blip, but I thought it's pretty cool.
