South-South solidarity

This is a real travel experience and happened when I took a collectivo taxi from Ollantaytambo to Pisac. These are very historically significant places in Peru's so called Sacred Valley which formed the heart of the Inca Empire. 

Peruvian cabman : "¿que pais, señor?"
me : "Soy de India."
Peruvian cabman : "ah India!  muy buenas peliculas, muy sentimentales!"

My Spanish is  poor and not formally learned, so the above rendering may not be entirely accurate.  But it was easy to carry on broken conversations with the few keywords that I knew.

translation :
"which country, sir?"
"I am from India."
"Ah India! very nice movies, very sentimental!"

Indeed. Latin and Indian pop cultures are both outright cheesy.  And we both use shared taxis/collectivos.
