Two pretty words

I learnt a lovely new French word today : tristesse!
So there was this French novel in the fifties called "Bonjour Tristesse" by a merely eighteen year old author. It's about a teenaged girl whose father is a rich womanizer. A movie got made in Hollywood from this book, and it has a charming song to go with it :

Then some more googling led me to "post coital tristesse". That's apparently the sadness you feel after sex. Quite apt for the word is sad and seductive at the same time, like the name of that beautiful girl in college you could never declare your love to. Oh if you didn't get/know it already, tristesse means "melancholia" or "sadness". I'm sure it has to be the sweetest sad word in any language.

The other cool word I learned was "eunoia". It means "beautiful thinking". The word sounds typically Greek and antiseptically geeky, in fact reminds me of euthanasia, but the meaning is pretty damned cool. And it's the name of a new book, each chapter of which is written with just one vowel...so the first chapter is written with words containing no other vowel but "A" and so on.
